Hsinchu International School (HIS) is a multicultural school with many students and teachers from different countries and diverse cultures. Here, we not only pursue academic success but also devote ourselves to people of high characters. We show our respect and tolerance by accepting and appreciating other people's differences.
Adolescents encounter dramatic internal and external changes, both physical and emotional. During adolescence there is a large degree of psychological growth as students make adjustments in their personality owing to the inevitable physical and sexual development which are characteristic of this period of life. Adolescents face ongoing conflict and difficulty adapting to the sudden upsurge of sexual and aggressive drives. These changes cause unrest and confusion in the adolescents' inner selves and in the way they perceive the world. Besides, the reason that teens' emotions always seem to be in a state of flux stems from their simultaneous search for identity, dependence on a peer group, and the high priority they place on social approval. Despite the "tormented and troublesome" adolescent stereotypes, most teens stay out of trouble, enjoy their advanced thinking skills and abilities, and their emotions remain relatively stable. And most go on to become healthy and well functioning adults.
The goal of personal counseling is to help students
deal with adolescent well being issues. We hope to provide a safe, private place for teens who need honest, accurate information and advice about health, emotions, and life.
